FLORIDA, US - SEPTEMBER 27: Hurricane Helene made landfall on the coast of Florida on Friday, September 27, as a Category 4 storm, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, according to initial reports. The National Hurricane Center confirmed that Helene struck the northwestern coast of Florida with winds reaching approximately 225 kilometers per hour (140 mph). The powerful storm has led to severe winds and heavy rainfall across the region, contributing to reported fatalities. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis held a press conference urging residents to take precautions as the storm approached. He had previously issued Executive Order 24-209 on September 24, declaring a state of emergency for 61 counties in preparation for the hurricane. In addition to Florida, officials noted that Hurricane Helene is expected to impact Georgia and North Carolina. Currently, over 1.2 million homes and businesses in Florida are without electricity. Authorities reported that more than 190,000 homes in Georgia and over 30,000 in North Carolina are also affected by power outages.
