FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA - APRIL 19: 14:54:11 how did you become cast in pirates of the carrebean? disney offered my film and i read screen play and didnt think it was for me but i wanted to meet w them bc at that pt i had a 2 year old daughter or 3 and for 3 years i watched nothing but animated films - cartoons. that was all i watched w my little girl. and i recieved screen play for pirates and in my mind i saw this opporunity to mesh characters like a cartoon for example - wiley coyote gets a bolder on his head and cuts to next scene w bandage on his head . i started thinking abt paramaters for cartoons and if they were availabke to cartoon characters, no one asks a questoin - ofc hes still alive. tried to incorporate these ideas into capt jack sparrow so taht i could control suspension of disbleief and characters actions, words, movements and put them in a place where the things that he would od or say were so ludicris or um mainly something - capt jack could do things i could never. say things i could never say. a way to stretch paramaters of a character and take a risk in doing that but if it panned out - on a good mission. it panned out could be character accepted by 5 yo and 45 yo and 65 yo in same way bugs bunny is a lead 14:58:15 (Footage by Law&Crime via Getty Images)
