Congressman Nehls says ATC system at unsustainably high risk with outdated funding streams at House hearing

House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation Chairman Troy Nehls of Texas says opening a hearing on the air traffic control system that the current US air traffic control system is unsustainable as industry experts have been warning for decades while the Government Accountability Office has classified FAA modernization efforts as high risk since 1995 and despite attempts to address these problems through ATC modernization, increased controller hiring, and stable funding for the FAA, the country remains no closer to a solution than it was thirty years ago though he emphasizes his goal is not to assign blame but to highlight the lack of progress.
