Speaker Ryan press exchange over sexual misconduct, Roy Moore Senate candidacy

House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin tells reporters that every claim of sexual harassment should be taken seriously, an independent ethics body in Congress reviewed claims and voted unanimously to dismiss them so members have to figure out how to respect and honor claims, and to ensure due process. Ryan says the House Administration Committee was dealing with the first reaction for full, total transparency which victims do not necessarily want so the process was painstaking toward developing real positive lasting change, not just to laws and procedures, but to change the culture. Ryan says he wants his daughter to grow up in a country, going to a workplace where she is empowered and respected, not fearful for reporting harassment when it occurs. Asked about a past statement calling on Roy Moore to drop out of the Alabama Senate race since which he had not, Ryan says his position had not changed, Moore should drop out and polling had not changed his opinion of the matter.
