Congressman Gianforte first address to House of Representatives
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California yields to Greg Gianforte, just sworn in as new at-large representative of Montana. Gianforte acknowledges his family in attendance, saying that as a businessman and electrical engineer he is in Washington to solve problems and not just argue. Gianforte says he will do the work of the people, in Washington to do the work of the people, promising that he would drain the swamp, his first three actions being to introduce bills that Congress not get paid in case of no budget, term limits, which earned boos from the gallery, and a ban on former members lobbying Congress. Gianforte notes his deep sense to serve, Speaker Ryan announcing the whole number of the House then 432.
