NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 6: Honored guest and speaker, baseball hall of famer Joe Torre (Joseph Paul Torre) is presented as the United States Navy commissions its newest Combat Ship, LCS 23 USS Cooperstown, on May 6, 2023 in New York City. Ahead of Fleet Week NYC, the USS Cooperstown joins the United States Navy’s fleet and is the first naval ship to honor the 70 baseball Hall of Famers who served during US conflicts spanning the Civil War, World War I (WWI/WW1), World War II (WWII/WW2), and the Korean War. The Commissioning Celebration was co-hosted by the New York Council Navy League (USNL) and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum (NBHFM) during the USS Cooperstown Commissioning Ceremony at New York Harbor Pier 88 on the island of Manhattan.
