Kennedy-Hatfield Resolution Nuclear Freeze Forum Hearing

Hiroshima survivor, Dr. Mytsuo Tomosawa continues providing his testimony regarding his experience shortly after the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Dr. Tomosawa describes the injuries people suffered, the lack of medicine for treatment, and infections that followed; pointing out that he will never forget the odor those people emitted. Tomosawa describes going out with his brother to look for friends. During that search, he saw dead people, but some with no bodies; only skulls, especially if they were wearing a helmet. He remembers people being evacuated from the city by boat, but there was no place to bury or cremate the dead, so they were piled up and burned. Other witnesses Kimuko Laskey, Hiroko Harris, and Shigeko Sasamori seated at witness table with Dr. Tomosawa. U.S. Senators Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Mark Hatfield (R-OR), Alan Cranston (D-CA), and U.S. House Representative Ed Markey (D-MA) seated on the congressional panel. Adult Caucasian and Asian American men and women seated behind the witnesses.
