DJ - Shakespeare is always better on stage / he wrote it for the stage / but it can work on film / it's been proven / Olivier's great Shakespeare films, Orson Welles Shakespeare films / Ken's idea was a very filmy one Q - Did you have times where you thought this film will never happen? DJ - We all thought what a marvellous thing if it does happen / What a load Ken had on his shoulders / a young actor yet to cut his teeth, remaking a film of theatrical legend / brave / in twenty or thirty years another whiz kid will come along and do the same Q - Were you aware of Olivier as a ghost in the background DJ - No not at all / In those terms anyone who plays a classical part is aware of the zillions of people who have played it before him / Like me in I Claudius - Charles Laughton was not on my shoulder / you have to forget them Q - Do you think there will ever be another Shakespeare from the Renaissance company on film? DJ - I have no doubt if this is a success / I hope so it would be nice *reporter in shots from here* Q - So many stars on set at one time. Brian Blessed said Paul Scofield would get directed away from being the star of the scene? DJ - Brian has marvellous respect for people. Q - sounds like it was good fun throughout - you probably didn't have a lot of that? DJ - Oh it was - yes *interview cuts out*
