Focus on the 60s - Sports and Games - Muhammad Ali
Heavyweight boxing rematch between Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston, May 25, 1965, Lewiston, Maine; includes the famous 1st round "phantom punch" (not really, though, if you watch in slow motion Liston had his guard down and Ali walloped him with a stiff jab that would've broke a lesser man's neck); Ali celebrates exuberantly, referee Jersey Joe Walcott tries to get him into a neutral corner, Liston struggles to get up; Liston gets up, but Nat Fleisher of Ring Magazine yells to Mr. Walcott that Liston had been down too long, leaving Ali & Liston to duke it out again; Jersey Joe rushes in, ends fight, awarding it to Mr. Ali. Cut to MCUs Muhammad Ali speaking at a press conference after the fight, exhibiting his typical comical and cocky flair, entertaining the reporters, "Bad man..." soundbite included.
