2-shot Interview with Sir Archibald McIndoe (Surgeon) SOF: (Q: Is the Guinea Pig Club a reunion or is there some other special purpose behind it?) Zoom to CU: "Its a reunion in one way, but in another sense it has a very special purpose behind it. You see it embraces practically all the seriously disfigured and injured pilots of the last war. These men have required very careful handling. Very careful rehabilitation to get them back to a normal way of life. To keep them together is the secret of success. Its done by a variety of methods. Mainly its been done by help which has been given to us by the public. And in particular through the RAF Benevolent Fund, which has spent many thousands of pounds on the rehabilitation of these young men". (a: Eventually, will doctors be able to give people completely new faces without trace of scars?) "I don't think so. But I think that the laborious techniques which we have had to use in the past twenty years will be modified a great deal when we learn the great secret, and I'm quite sure we will learn it, of cross-grafting from one person to another".
