Barranquilla Carnival In Madrid
MADRID, SPAIN - SEPTEMBER 17: (SLOW-MO) A group of dancers perform during the Barranquilla Carnival celebrated at the Cibeles Square on September 17, 2021, in Madrid, Spain. Declared in 2003 by UNESCO as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity", the Barranquilla Carnival lands in the capital to fill the downtown streets with color. Some of the parades will start from the Retiro Park and another from the Plaza de Cibeles. The initiative arises within the framework of the Book Fair because in this very special 80th edition, Colombia is the guest of honor. A group of more than 40 musicians and dancers, to the rhythm of cumbia, mapalé, garabato, congos, fandango, negritas puloy and marimondas, will bring us closer to one of the most iconic festive events in Colombia, the rich folklore of the Colombian Caribbean.
