AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - NOVEMBER 4, 2023: A group in the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam on Saturday (Nov. 4) reacted to Israel's attacks by reenacting the lives lost of children in Gaza. The group called 'Blind,' which gathered in Amsterdam's Dam Square, brought to life the loss of children's lives in Israel's attacks and the suffering of Gazans through their demonstration. The demonstration, which began with sirens and airplane sounds, featured a group lying on the ground with bomb sound effects, and later, they started searching for the children who had lost their lives amidst the smoke. Called Blind, the members of the group, shouting while raising objects in white fabric representing children's bodies wrapped in shrouds, later arranged these objects side by side and placed white carnations on them. To protest the silence over child deaths in Gaza, the group wore vests with "USA," "EU (European Union)," "UK," and "Humanity" written on them and blindfolded themselves., Some of the spectators, holding signs that read "A child dies every 15 minutes in Palestine" and "3900 children killed, 2500 children missing," were seen embracing each other and crying. Dutch actress Agathe Schoon, who played the role of a mother who lost her baby in the bombing during the performance, said, "I truly felt like I was in Gaza. I felt like a mother who lost her baby. Those around me were scared and angry, not knowing what to do, just crying while looking at the lifeless bodies around them. This week the Israeli army expanded its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless airstrikes since a surprise offensive by Hamas on Oct. 7. Nearly 11,000 people have been killed in the conflict, including 9,488 Palestinians, mostly children and women, and more than 1,538 Israelis.
