Greasy grouper + Red Sea - HD stock video
We are on the south coast of Egypt, on the spectacular open sea reef of Daedalus and Saint John´s.
Some of these reefs grow over platforms found hundreds of metres under water.
They are in an extra-ordinary state of conservation due to, without doubt, the excellent water quality and their distance away from large urban centres.
The diversity of fish is particularly high in this part of the Red Sea.
Endemic species thrive here, unique to this sea, as in few seas of the planet. They make up 10% of the total.
In some zones the corals generate gigantic structures reaching the surface. They then form huge reefs with vertical walls descending dizzily hundreds of meters down.
