Gordon Brown attends Times BFI London Film Festival function; Gordon Brown speech SOT - pleased to be at The London Film Festival/ thank to all our incredible world leading producers/ pleased to be here to launch what I think is the next stage in British film/ to build a new British Film Centre here - constructed over the next 5 years - provide 45 million of new funding to help bring this dream alive/ - I want to thank - Greg Dyke of the BFI - all those responsible for organising this London Film Festival/ Anthony Mingella is sorely missed not just by me, he lit up our lives/ he wanted a show case for British talent/ Britain is a great creative country/ you can hear it in our music - see it every time you turn on and watch some of the best of British film/ Bill Murray said this film could not have been made any where in the world except from London - that is a tribute to the British film industry - Great era for home grown British film - Slum Dog Millionaire - latest Harry Potter Film/ so from the film tax credit, from our 25 million support for the British film archive, we are showing we are determined as a country to always reinforce the special place of film/ 50 million for the extension of the Tate museum - 22 million investment in the creation of new temporary exhibition galleries/ 33 million to ensure the future of the British Library newspaper archive/ 10 million that Ben Bradshaw announced today - in Stonehenge - The arts are woven deep into our lives/ it was John Ruskin who said.../ thank you for your extraordinary range/ let us move forward together/ another landmark to arts and culture in our nation
