- It's a really important thing; if you can't have that properly frank exchange of where you are in the whole thing, people either stick in their positions or they don't trust you enough / we were in this terrible building, the facilities were terrible; every so often, Mo (Mowlam) who often had a sense of humour about these things, when things were really grim, she'd say 'you're really depressed aren't you', I'd say 'yeah', and she'd say 'time for the women's coalition' (laughter) / it was a strange psychology and in the end when I had the final call with David Trimble, and we just went for it / it was a combination of many things, but in the end, you can have whatever technical agreement you like, but if the spirit is not sitting alongside it, it will never work

- Well can I thank Tony for remembering my mum, because that was difficult / I think we'd set out that last week; it was going to be intense, a huge range of meetings / like everything, you plan the week out, and by the time you get to Monday you realise everything's difficult / my own civil servants rang me when I was coming out of church and said 'listen, we have to talk to you, George Mitchell is losing his hair', but he was definitely fed up with everybody / they said you're going to have to get up here, so we worked it out / I went back up early in the morning, I met Tony, we met in Hillsborough, Tony gave me a lovely breakfast, I went to calm down David Trimble / I remember going to G...
