- we know he rented a little farmhouse near Hull and he had teenage girl as his companion/ they filled that little house with horse carcasses in various states of dissection/ each time Stubbs wanted to study a horse, they got it on pulley system, hoisted it up to ceiling and rested it on plank so Stubbs could draw all details of that particular stage of section/ when see his beautiful chalk drawings, you can't imagine mess and stench that must have been created/ must have been gruelling work but Stubbs was a perfectionist
