He is aware of the grave responsibility placed upon him. Iacocca: "It is not, as was reported in most of the media, to ask for a handout. It is to request a helping hand. We do not want anything for free We're asking for the guarantee of a loan. Every last dollar of which will be repaid." Iacocca states this chosen course was of last resort, that he would "rather not be here at all" and is a strong advocate of free market economics.
