Police Broadcast Evacuation Order Through Florida Neighborhood

A Florida resident captured an eerie video showing the moment a police vehicle drove through his St Petersburg, Florida, neighborhood on Monday, October 7, ordering anyone in the area to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Milton. Ryan Escott captured this video showing the patrol car broadcasting the order as it drove past piles of debris from Hurricane Helene, its lights flashing. The automated message played the following on repeat: "We strongly recommend that you follow the current evacuation order for your personal safety. If you choose not to evacuate you do so at your own risk. Once the weather conditions deteriorate and flooding conditions begin, officers may not be able to help you leave your home." The St Petersburg Police Department told Storyful they encouraged anyone in the affected areas to evacuate by 5 am on Tuesday morning. The hurricane, which was downgraded from a https://x.com/NHC_Atlantic/status/1843487352427344340 Category 5 to a https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT4+shtml/052114.shtml Category 4 , was expected to grow in size and remain an "extremely dangerous hurricane" when it approached the coast of Florida on Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center said.
