Family of Bears Pours Out of Trash Can in Avon, Connecticut

A family of black bears was seen jumping out of a trash can in Avon, Connecticut, on Tuesday, April 11. Video record by Emily Maurer shows a larger bear standing by as three cubs each poke their heads out of the trash can before jumping out. Maurer told Storyful that she saw a glimpse of the "mama" bear from her vehicle whilst in her office parking lot, and attempted to take a photo to show her son. Maurer said she was delighted that she pressed record, instead of capturing a single photo, as the bears continued to pop out. "Seeing the one bear that close was cool, then came a cub, then the next & then the fourth!", Maurer said. "I could not believe what I was seeing. What an incredibly amazing experience! It brought me so much excitement, joy & laughter." Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection told https://www.wfsb.com/2023/04/15/bears-are-out-avon-how-stay-safe-while-enjoying-view/ local media that Connecticut's bear population is growing and urged people to keep their distance from the animals.
