Edward Enniful interview; ENGLAND: London: INT Edward Enninful (editor-in-chief of British Vogue) interview SOT: EE: "I mean you know - Vogue has been around for 106 years and I always say I'm a custodian. And whilst I'm editor It is my responsibility to deal with he world we live, reflect the zeitgeist and my day really - there's not one day. I could be dealing with the rest of Europe - also part of my job. One day I could be having meetings all day, one day I could be on a photoshoot - but what my days have in common is a need to reflect what's going on that particular moment in time. I don't have a specific routine - it's always to reflect what's happening in the world through a fashion lens, or cultural lens." RD: "You've held a number of roles in the industry - you talk about what's going on around the world through a fashion lens - because the world is constantly evolving - are you constantly learning as well?" EE: "Oh my god yes! I mean the fashion industry moves so fast that you can't just be someone who sits back and thinks - oh this is it - you know what's next - what's the next social platform. What's the music people are listening to - is it afrobeats? You're always sort of moving forward and you always have to be in the know!" RD: "You talked in the book about listening to Rihanna when you were recovering from one of a number of health issues - if I gave you a cable right now and plugged it into your phone - what are you listening to?" EE: "I'm listening to afrobeats _ I'm obsessed with afrobeats - Wizkid - and for me it sort of takes me back to my childhood - growing up in an African house. I always talk about duality - so I was in an African household with African music and African food, African smells - then I'd go to school South London and I've be in England. So afrobeats really takes me back to those earl days and walking around Brixton market." RD: "You talk in the book about essentially writing this to show a younger gene...
