Dundee is in the midst of a £1 billion waterfront regeneration project stretching 8km along the River Tay. It is one of the top twenty such projects in the UK. in 2015, the V&A is planned to complete construction of a futuristic waterfront centre for international design close to the Dundee Railway Station. Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland with a population of some 130,000. It was once a major centre for producing jute, marmalade and ships as well as supporting industries like whaling and publishing. Biomedical and technological industries arrived in the late 1980s, and the city now accounts for 10 per cent of the digital-entertainment industry in the UK.
