Biochemical Genetics
Dr Curt Stern (Professor of Genetics, University of California, Berkeley) lectures on DNA. Discusses work of a British investigator (scientist), which was reconfirmed by Rockefeller Institute. Says it was discovered that Deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA, is the material that has the genetic info. References diagram to explain one of the science experiments used to discover DNA. Dr Stern points out a flask model which indicates a culture of bacteria; bacteria are placed on a petri dish in which Streptomycin (antibiotic) has been added (again illustrated in form of a diagram); all the bacteria die. Dr Stern points out another bacteria culture-filled flask model in the diagram, which is also then placed on a petri dish with Streptomycin; the bacteria culture grows-- these bacteria are Streptomycin (antibiotic) resistant.
