George Carlin on Working With Kevin Smith
George Carlin: I did not know much about Kevin. I’ve seen some of his films without knowing there was a Kevin smith cult. And not being a big Hollywood guy and a big movie goer I probably didn’t notice the same name on two movies but that's my detachment because of that. But Kevin came to me Dogma and said he wrote that little part there, not so little but not as big as this one. Cardinal Glick that he wrote that also with me in mind, knowing my famous as it were stand on Catholicism being a fallen away Cathlic myself and he’s a little less fallen away but nonetheless not disillusioned. So he wrote this magnificently intelligent script and the character has me in mind and he was a long term fan of mine. He came to me saying I've memorised everything and he came to me saying stuff I did in the 70’s so I knew he was being authentic.
