Detached retina, ultrasound scan - HD stock video
Ultrasound scan showing a detached retina. The dark region at centre is the vitreous body, a gel-filled space between the retina and the lens of the eye. It is clearly seen that it contains a bright region that moves as the eye moves. Retinal detachment occurs when the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye, comes away from its supporting membrane. If not treated quickly, total blindess will occur. This patient was a 55-year old woman who reported blurred vision
