Literature: David Peace interview; Part 4 of 5ENGLAND: Manchester: Old Trafford Stadium:EXTDavid Peace (Author) interview SOT- (On using the title 'Munichs') I am nervous about it / it's a polyphonic novel; the idea that this happened to many different people / I wanted so many different voices and so many characters to show the extent of the tragedy; that meant 'Munichs' was the right title for that reason; I wouldn't have done it just to provoke / once I thought it would work as a title, I'm well aware supporters of some clubs use it as a term of mockery and abuse / tragedy chanting is one of the most sickening things of the modern game, I wanted to kick that head on - I would dare someone to read this book and then to ever use 'Munichs' as a term of abuse or a mockery / this is something, yes it happened to Manchester United, but it happened to the working class of this country and it should be remembered as a national tragedy / for United, maybe people will say it's not my business as I don't support them; if I was a United supporter it would be a badge of honour, yes I am Munich- (On why it's so important so far on that we should remember) Football is an integral part of the history of this country / this story is of grief and loss but also of how people came together and how people triumphed over grief and kept the club going.
