Senator Blumenthal blames leadership churn for veteran suicide prevention failures
Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal tells VA Secretary Robert Wilkie at a joint Veterans Affairs committee hearing accountability could not be demanded with constant churn in leadership at the Department failing to spend money allocated for suicide prevention, Wilkie agreeing that the suicide prevention program was at best inchoate in 2017, permanently appointing the Defense Department suicide prevention leader with the most expertise available in government and increasing that operation, agreeing with his criticism.
