President Reagan honors Challenger disaster victims at State of the Union
Close up head on shot of President Ronald Reagan, speaking at a lectern with an old-fashioned microphone atop it. Behind him are the stripes of an American flag. Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill is sitting behind him, as is Vice President George H.W. Bush, whose face is only barely visible at times. Reagan wears a dark blue suit and tie. He says: "Thank you for allowing me to delay my address until this evening. We pause together to mourn and honor the valor of our seven Challenger heroes, and I hope that we're now ready to do what they would want us to do. Go forward, America, and reach for the stars." Crowd applauds. Cut to medium shot of Senator and former astronaut John Glenn sitting in the audience, applauding and looking down. He is surrounded by other members of Congress.
