Christmas Tree Worms (Spirobranchus giganteus) opening on coral reef - HD stock video
Numerous Christmas Tree Worms (Spirobranchus giganteus) are attached to a healthy underwater coral reef. Also known as Spiral Gilled Tube worm. These are living organisms that filter plankton from the water to feed on, as seen here. They are highly sensitive to water movement and recoil entirely if the pressure changes around them. Their resemblance to the festive trees give them their name. Here we see two worms emerging to feed. Footage taken whilst scuba diving at Ko Haa, Krabi Province, Thailand. Sony mirrorless camera, with underwater housing and Mares lighting used.
