Mass held in Mexico City cathedral in honor of Pope Francis

MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - APR. 24, 2025: Catholic faithful gathered in Mexico City's historic Metropolitan Cathedral on Thursday (Apr. 24) to attend a mass held in honor of Pope Francis, as a sign of reverence and solidarity with the pontiff.A large photograph of the Pope was placed prominently on the cathedrals main altarpiece, drawing attendees who approached to pray and take pictures.The mass, marked by solemn hymns and prayers, reflected the deep devotion many Mexicans hold for the head of the Catholic Church.The pope was admitted to a hospital in Rome in February with bronchitis, which developed into bilateral pneumonia.
