Aboubakar-led Cameroon fight to earn 3-3 draw with Serbia

Cameroon fought hard to take a 3-3 draw with Serbia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup Group G match on Monday as both nations took their first point each in Qatar 2022. Vincent Aboubakar, a Cameroon substitute, played a vital role in his team's draw, scoring a goal and assisting an equalizer in the second half. Cameroon defender Jean-Charles Castelletto finished in the far post in the 29th minute as the African team drew the first blood in the match at Al Janoub Stadium. However in the injury time of the first 45 minutes, Serbia came back from 1-0 deficit. Strahinja Pavlovic scored a header after Dusan Tadic had whipped a freekick in the 46th minute to level the match. Two minutes later Serbian star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored a classy goal outside the box to give a 2-1 lead to his team. Serbia led the first half 2-1 after two quick goals. Following a teamwork, forward Aleksandar Mitrovic made it 3-1 for Serbia in the 53rd minute. Serbia were quite comfortable but Cameroon displayed a massive effort to level the clash with two quickfire goals. In the 63rd minute, Aboubakar, who was subbed-in the second half, chipped the ball over Serbia goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic on a counter attack. The goal was valid after a VAR check. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, another Cameroon forward, leveled the match in the 66th minute, making a close range finish on a counter attack, 3-3. Aboubakar produced the assist after beating Serbia's offside trap. The game ended 3-3 so the points were shared after their second match. Cameroon and Serbia have one point each in Group G that is led by World Cup record holders Brazil, who have three points.
