Madrid Remembers Spanair Plane Crash Victims On 14th Anniversary Of The Tragedy
MADRID, SPAIN - AUGUST 20: A bouquet of roses dedicated to the victims of the Spanair crash, during a tribute in La Rosaleda del Parque Juan Carlos I, on 20 August, 2022 in Madrid, Spain. This Thursday, August 20, marks 14 years since Spanair flight JK5022 crashed at Barajas on takeoff to Gran Canaria at 2:24 p.m., an accident in which 154 people lost their lives and 18 were injured. As every year, this August 20, the Association of People Affected by Flight JK5022 celebrates events and floral offerings in Madrid and Gran Canaria in memory of the victims of the accident, one of the most serious air tragedies to have occurred in Spain. The airline went bankrupt in 2012 and the legal case was closed eight years ago.
