John Aldridge (Former Liverpool player) interview SOT
Q: HOW MUCH DID HE MEAN TO EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB
- From a Liverpool perspective, and Tranmere Rovers, I met Bill on one funny occasion when we knocked Everton out of the FA Cup at Goodison Park / and he came over, shook my hand and told me where to go basically which was typical of Bill seeing the funny side of things / he was a great chap and we appreciate the work he did a few years ago at Anfield with regard to Hillsborough, the words he said at Anfield were very poignant and very meaningful / it helped paved the way to get what we wanted at the time; it was a strong performance from him / he's a cracking fella, met him on quite a few occasions, from a Liverpool point of view we were all sad of his loss; you want to commemorate what he did for Everton Football Club
Q: HE WAS BLUE THROUGH AND THROUGH WASN'T HE
- Oh absolutely / what you see is what you got, Everton meant the world for him / he did a great job; some people might not agree with that but you look what he's done while there / a super fella
Q: WHAT DID HE MEAN TO YOU
- When I came across Bill he was funny / I like people to be funny and have a laugh; it's a serious game but you've got to have character as well and he certainly had that in abundance
Q: WHAT MADE HIM A UNIQUE CHAIRMAN
- I think it comes from the heart, for Bill it did / sometimes your heart can rule your head, that were Bill on a few occasions, because of the love for the club / he was a great bloke and I'm honoured and privileged to be here.
