Arrokoth visited by New Horizons probe, animation - HD stock video

Arrokoth visited by New Horizons probe, animation. NASA's space probe New Horizons flew past this trans-Neptunian Kuiper Belt object on 1 January 2019. Formally known as 486958 Arrokoth, it was previously known as Ultima Thule (2014 MU69). The flypast revealed it to be a contact binary formed of two smaller objects, with a total length of just 31 kilometres. It became the most distant object ever visited by a probe, orbiting the Sun at a distance of some 6.6 billion kilometres (nearly 45 times the Earth-Sun distance). New Horizons, launched in 2006, reached Pluto in 2015, after which it was redirected to Arrokoth
