Senate passes first rescissions package since 1999 by 51-48 vote
Arkansas Senator Markwayne Mullin as presiding officer declares passage vote on a rescissions package at 2:30pm in the morning after over a dozen hours spent voting on amendments and a substitute. The bill as amended by the senate next returned to the house for final passage two weeks after a reconciliation package under similar procedures followed a similar legislative path. Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins of Maine and Alaska Lisa Murkowski, each Republicans, voted no while Minnesota Democrat Tina Smith did not vote.
