Sal Mineo interview 4 of 9

Host: Are you in danger of getting typecast? Mineo: “I like playing the villain, I like playing the bad guy / Those roles are always so much meatier - “I would not like playing ‘the boy next door... That’s just not my bag.” Host: What are you most remembered for… asked about most? Mineo: “ I think REBEL is the most talked about, and strangely a younger generation now is getting into the whole REBEL cult thing” “It has to go back to the source, and the 50’s were the source of Rock, the youth movement, and so forth.” (This interview was conducted on the set of PS Your Cat is Dead, the play he was rehearsing when he was murdered on February 12, 1976)
