Amazon turtle spawning cycle - HD stock video
The Guaporé Valley, on the border between Brazil and Bolivia, is one of the Amazon turtle spawning grounds.
The region is eight hundred kilometers from Porto Velho, the capital of Rondônia.
Amazon turtles appear during the dry season.
They come in search of beaches with coarse sand.
The spawning process lasts an average of four hours.
The turtle leaves the water, chooses a spot on the beach, digs, lays its eggs, and returns to the river.
Two months after laying the eggs, the hatchlings are born. (images 1)
