House Considers Amendment to Increase Missile Defense Funding
Alabama Representative Mike Rogers offers an amendment to add additional funding for directed energy and other research and development at the Missile Defense Agency in the defense spending bill for fiscal 2017, saying that it is clear that we have to change the way we do missile defense if we expect to win in future years. Subcommittee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen rises reluctantly in opposition, yielding to ranking member Peter Visclosky who argues that dollars do matter but dollars have to be effectively spent.
