Guatemalan journalist Zamora released to house arrest
GUATEMALA CITY, GUATEMALA - OCT. 19: After two years in prison, Guatemalan journalist Jose Ruben Zamora was released on Saturday (October 19) after a judge ruled that he could serve his sentence under house arrest in the Guatemalan capital, Guatemala City.
Zamora, known for his investigative work and strong stance against corruption in the country, was arrested in July 2022 on charges of money laundering and other related offences. His arrest drew widespread criticism from international and local human rights organisations, who saw it as an attack on press freedom.
