Steve Carell Delights Northwestern Grads With Dance Party Mid-Commencement Speech

Actor Steve Carell gave the commencement address at Northwestern University's graduation ceremony in Chicago, Illinois, on Sunday, June 15, and paused in the middle for a "dance break." The footage was captured by Daniella Karras. Karras posted the footage to TikTok, captioning it, "Only Steve Carell would have a dance party mid-speech." Carell encouraged university leaders, graduating students, and audience members to get up and dance as "That's Not My Name" by the Ting Tings played in Chicago's United Center. After dancing on stage with Northwestern School of Communications Dean E Patrick Johnson, Carell ran out among the graduates on the floor and gave out high-fives during the song. He later joked about being "so out of breath" while trying to finish his speech. "Steve Carell announced that it was time for a mid-commencement dance break," Karras told Storyful.
