Thousands To Join Tug-Of-War With Japanese Castle
AOMORI, JAPAN – SEP. 20: About 4,000 people are to experience a kind of tug-of-war with Japan's huge samurai-era castle. The Hirosaki Castle in northern Aomori Prefecture is undergoing a large-scale renovation after a series of earthquakes in decades jolted its stone walls needing them to be fixed. The main tower of the castle, called "tenshu" has to be moved for the fixing of the walls, so Hirosaki city mayor Noriyuki Kasai decided to use this rare opportunity to attract tourists in the "drawing the castle" event being held daily between September 20 and 27.
