At sunrise warm light hits the Sand Hills just outside Wray, Colorado, while a dozen greater prairie chickens display on a yucca and sand covered lek in a springtime mating ritual. Males fill their orange sacs on the sides of their throats with a booming sound and dance for the inspecting female chickens. One male jumps on top of a yucca plant for better position.
