Single male Royal Palm Turkey front view - stock photo
This is a breed of domestic turkey not selected for meat production but mainly as an ornamental bird, mainly kept as an exhibition bird or on a small farm. The toms usually weigh 16-22 lbs. This turkey breed first appeared in 1920s in Lake Worth, Florida. After selective breeding to stabilize the unique coloring, Royal Palm turkey was finally accepted by the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection in 1971. In Europe it can also be called Crollwilzer, Pied or Black-laced White.
