Pied Currawong (Strepera graculina) - stock photo

Mysterious Pied Currawong (Strepera graculina) pictured here, close up, against a dark teal background with its piercing yellow eye fixated on potential prey. Despite resembling ravens and crows, these birds are closely related to the butcherbird and magpie and this becomes evident the more I watch them in the garden. This beautiful and bold native song bird is found throughout eastern Australia and aren't too popular among the local smaller birds, ending up on the menu and whatnot - ouch.
