Northern Hawk Owl in Late Afternoon Light - stock photo

I am not sure how much longer this mighty little hunter will remain before migrating back up to the boreal regions of the north. One thing is for sure, however, it or other species will not end up in this area again as it is being clear cut to make way for a very large housing development - sad. In the last week alone, not only did I find this Northern Hawk Owl, but also a Great Gray Owl, Northern Shrike, flocks of Redpolls, Crossbills, Turkeys galore, a Red Fox and who knows what else...Photographed near Orleans, Ontario.
