This photograph was taken an altitude of Nine hundred and thirteen metres, at 14:10pm on a May afternoon off the Stewart Cassiar Highway 37 on the shoreline of Dease Lake, heading towards Porter Landing, in British Columbia, Canada. This is a young American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus), probably just over the yearling stage, and now fending for itself away from it's mothers protection. Black bears are medium sized bears native to North America, and found in abundance in the Yukon territory and Alaska. Black bears have a small tail, up to nine inches long foot length and males can wigh up to 250kgs.
