Fudo Myo-o covered with moss - Osaka - stock photo
The moss-covered statue of Fudo Myo-o, which is enshrined outdoors in a corner of Osaka's Dotonbori, is said to be at least 100 years old, although the author and production date are not clearly recorded. It is said that the custom of pouring water over the historic statue of Fudo Myo-o and covering it with moss began after World War II, and is now established as one of the customs unique to Osaka.
