Forest fire damage (Stewart Cassiar Highway 37, Good hope Lake BC) - stock photo
This photograph was taken at an altitude of Seven hundred and ten metres, on a springtime morning in May 2016 off the Stewart-Cassiar highway 37 between Good Hope Lake and Upper Liard in British Columbia, Canada.
The air was thick with the aroma of smouldering wood as we travelled along the highway, small pockets of wispy smoke plumes still rising up from areas of devastated forest. Forest fires are both common, and necessary for Mother Nature to replenish and rebuild, though also potentially deadly to mankind and the animal kingdom.
