A statue of Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) with the Guards Crimean War Memorial in Waterloo Place, St James’s, Central London. The smaller statue is of Sidney Herbert, 1st Baron Herbert of Lea (1810-1861), a vital supporter of Florence Nightingale in her efforts to introduce efficient and hygienic nursing practices to Scutari Hospital in Crimea during the Crimean War (1853-56). The Guards memorial is Grade II listed and the artist was John Bell.
