United Nation Delegates Voting on Atom Plan
(Original Caption) Voting together as West and East take their first big step in the U.N. November 23rd toward bringing President Eisenhower's "Atoms-for-Peace" plan into being are, left to right: Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., chief U.S. delegate; Anthony Nutting, United Kingdom chief delegate; and Arkady A. Sobolev of the Russian delegation, sitting in place of the late Andrei Vishinsky, chief Soviet delegate who died the day before. The seven-nation resolution calls for the speedy setting up of an international atomic energy agency to take charge of the plan. It was adopted unanimously by the 60-nation Main Political Committee.
