A town of 1,900 people, Marfa was founded in the early 1880s and has become a haven for art and artist from around the world. Founded in 2003 the Ballroom is an art, music and cinema center. "There are not many places where you can experiment as much ," says co -founder Fairfax Dorn. Ballroom Marfa co-sponsored the famous Prada Marfa sculpture by artists Elmgreen and Dragset set in a field just off US Route 90, some 60kms (37 miles) northwest Marfa.
